Here’s what you can expect when you book a lifestyle newborn session with me:

A lifestyle and posed session mixes the best of both worlds in terms of newborn photography. It offers a relaxing atmosphere in your own home capture the start of the new version of your family. The lifestyle part of your session includes your newest little love with you the parents! Think lots of kisses, snuggles, and swooning over your baby. The baby can either be in an outfit or swaddled. Then usually the second part of your session will be your baby in a neutral setup bucket or basket on a small 2×3 foot backdrop that goes right in the middle of your floor to achieve the professional look of a portrait studio.

In the Comfort of Your Own Home

No need to pack a diaper bag or rush to be anywhere. I come to you. We’ll use the spaces with the best natural light—often the nursery, living room, or bedroom—and move at your baby’s pace.

If you need to feed or change your baby mid-session, we pause. No pressure. No timeline. Just a gentle rhythm that works with your family, not against it.

We’ll begin with gentle, natural portraits of your baby—wrapped, unwrapped, or in a simple onesie—based on what keeps your little one content. No props or backdrops—just soft window light and your baby’s sleepy expressions.

Family Portraits That Feel Like You

We’ll start with portraits of you all together—siblings, parents, even pets if you’d like. You don’t have to worry about everyone smiling at the camera. That’s not what we’re after.

What we’re capturing is connection. A forehead kiss. A hand tucked around a newborn head. A big brother peeking curiously into the bassinet. The things you feel but don’t always see.

Session Styling

My style is light and airy with soft colors and textures. You can suggest on our initial emails or have a planning call if you would like to include any special heirlooms or colors into your session. Mostly I try to keep the baby in white or cream colors and add different blankets for depth and texture but keeping the focus on every detail of your baby.

The Day of your session

When the day of your session arrives I will bring all the swaddles, headbands ( if you so choose) and wraps along with me based on what we discussed in initial emails. Upon arrival we’ll pick out a room with the best lighting, use the nursery and I’ll add in my own flash setups to help fill areas as needed. Then, depending when the baby last fed, I’ll setup my basket setup and camera and begin photographing.

How long is a Lifestyle and Posed Newborn session?

A typical newborn session will last anywhere from 2-3 hours in your home. If you choose a studio space ( located in Lafayette, NJ) you can expect about 2 hours because everything will be already setup for you when you arrive.
