Every year, just as the leaves start to turn and the air holds that perfect balance of crisp and warm, I get to witness something incredibly special.
A mama and her son meet me at a local park—year after year—for their fall session. It’s become their tradition. The leaves, the laughter, the somewhat same posing prompts… but every fall, something has changed. He’s taller. His smile is different. His laugh is deeper. And she? She’s more radiant each time I see her, soaking up these fleeting moments.
This isn’t just about photos—it never is, really.
It’s about remembering what this season felt like. It’s about pausing time for a mama who knows all too well how fast it’s moving.
These sessions have become more than an annual appointment—they’re a marker of time, a rhythm in their story. And being the one who gets to show up with a camera year after year? It’s an honor I don’t take lightly.
Watching children grow up in front of my lens is one of the most meaningful parts of this work. I don’t just see their smiles changing—I see the relationship deepening, the inside jokes forming, the comfort they feel in being fully themselves. And the gift? One day, they’ll look back at these images and remember that fall wasn’t just busy schedules and soccer games—it was connection, warmth, tradition. It was joy.
These sessions are always a little bit silly (fun is part of the memory!), a little bit sentimental, and absolutely soaked in love. And I hope they never stop showing up just like this.
