Mike & Adria | Perfect May wedding at Coach House at Ryland Inn

Weddings

Is it time to panic?

Some things even a bridal emergency kits cannot help you with. From photographing weddings for 5 years I know if something is meant to happen you have no control over timing. So what do you do when your photographer calls to tell you that she is pregnant, and due right near your wedding?! Most people probably panic and get angry. There is nothing in your emergency kit for this! When I had to make that phone call to Mike and Adria, I was sick to my stomach over telling them the news, and when I feared the worst, they were the exact opposite, the two of them fully trusted that I had their best interest in mind, and were so happy for me. I was going to continue to help them every step of the way as far as timeline, editing, and albums, even if I was not able to photograph their actual wedding.

Jen to the rescue!

Enter Jen, the kindest and sweetest friend who I met through a local creatives group in the New Jersey chapter of the Rising Tide Society. She was set to be my second photographer for their wedding…before I got pregnant. I had to ask her HUGE favor, if she would take over the role of lead photographer for me! Without hesitation she was on board, and continued to plan with me for their big day. When Adria and Mike’s wedding day arrived, I was arriving home with a 3 day old baby. I knew they were in good hands with Jen, Tori and Michelle who took great care to not let a detail go without being photographed, and served my couple so well.

Best Couple Award goes to…

When I had met Mike and Adria at Starbucks to talk about their wedding vision and during the booking process I knew they were a fun loving and laid back couple who were ready for this special celebration. Even after their engagement session, where I jumped in the back of their car to ride with them to a great photo spot in the heart of Hoboken I knew they were up for anything, but I am so grateful to them for being so kind when I put that to the test!

It was a cool experience as a photographer to have looked at photographs from a wedding and really be able to feel the emotions from the entire day. Editing the photos I got to  feel the love from the look on their faces as they spoke their vows, and the most radiant smiles beaming as they entered into reception, and of course laughter when the purple Scranton College flag made an appearance on the dance floor!  I cannot thank them enough for being so awesome, and giving me so much grace during this whole process. I wish I could have been present at the wedding, but I am so happy that these two had the most amazing day! Wishing them the happiest first anniversary!!

Jen visited me the next day to drop off all the memory cards, meet the baby, and tell me all about their wedding!
