I do not have a job that fits into the  social norm of a 9-5. I have the luxury of loving what I do… creating portraits of everyday people in their best light. I am a photographer based out of New Jersey. Yes I get to make my own schedule, and have a ton of fun while I am with my clients but I started my own photography business for so much more than that.

My mother is 1 of 14 children, number 8 to be exact, and just a small branch of the substantial Irish family tree. The memories I have of all the family parties and large holiday gatherings growing up are wonderful, but they get even better when those stories are supplemented by a photograph.

In the last few years social media platforms exploded and we have had an impulse to capture everything with a camera. From a selfie when we look good, to our latest home cooked meals that would never have made the cut in the hey-days of film (unless you are talking about my fourth grade self who took so many photos on my school trips I was out of exposures before we arrived at our destination!). Despite this ease of access to a camera, I still believe a printed photograph holds an expressive and meaningful value to everyone because it can help us remember. A wedding photographer is there to capture the excitement and buzz around one of the biggest celebrations in your life. A newborn photographer captures those precious first days of life that become a blur in a memory if not documented. A family photographer captures those moments in between that make a regular day extraordinary and a part of something…a part of your memory. They are your legacy. Photographs are powerful in that they can remedy a grieving heart, aid us in laughter, and help tell your story to others.

It is such a treasure for me to photograph your moments because I know I am playing a small part in your legacy. I believe everyone has a unique story to tell, and no matter what season of life you are in I think it is essential to document and share yours. That is why I wanted to share with you all the ‘Whys’ behind my business. As the Irish blessing says “May you never forget what is worth remembering…” I want you to stop and realize how the little moments of today will become your best memories of tomorrow.

While you may not love every photograph of yourself, it documents where you have been who you were with and those wonderful moments shared together. They document our story, and help us remember how awkward we were and how far we’ve come. Although I like to keep to myself I do not hesitate to show everyone our yearly photo book. Family is my driving force behind why I have chosen to do what I do which is why I store every treasured memory in a photograph that I can share with my future children.
