Disney at heart

When I first met Vinny and Jess I knew that their wedding would be something out of a fairytale, and not just any fairytale, but Disney one!! We met up to talk wedding details, photography needs, and I soon found out they were both big Disney fans.

We talked for so long, and I heard their amazing proposal story. On a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida, these two Disney fans shared a dessert they would remember for a lifetime! A very special dessert came with a ring, and a proposal. Soon their wedding planning begun, and I joined their story!

A {baby} bump in the road

With most couples, I try to check in along the wedding journey, as the stages of wedding planning unfold. It was a few months after their engagement session at the Grounds for Sculpture I found out I was pregnant and not able to shoot their wedding! I felt so bad about the timing of it all, but when you are a wedding photographer with a baby due in wedding season, your schedule is bound to have some bumps. 

Have no fear…Monika is here (and available)!

I have known Monika for years, and had full confidence she was the best choice to help me in this situation. We met Monika when I was at County College of Morris in one of my first photography classes. Many photography projects filled our cameras and time in the dark room long before either of us were photographing weddings! I needed someone who I had full confidence and trust in to replace me on the wedding day, and I immediately thought of Monika. I knew she would make the day amazing and I had total confidence in her because she was actually my wedding photographer!! 

The best day in May

When their wedding day arrived on the calendar Jess and Vin were in great hands with Monika, and I was at home with a 10 day old baby. I could not wait to hear all about the day and I was so excited to get the images back to edit. There were so many beautiful moments and so many whimsical details to pay homage to one of their favorite Disney movies Alice in Wonderland. Long before the big day Jess had even planned to surprise Vin with a Mad Hatter hat after their first look!

Takes the cake…literally! 

Missing out on their big day I also knew I would miss out on a spectacular wedding cake. Vin’s family owns a bakery and so I knew it was going to be over the top, and awesome. When I received the images to edit I not only heard how amazing it was from Monika, but I saw the most gorgeous details too! It was layer upon layer of buttercream and small hand drawn Alice in wonderland drawings along with teacup spacers! IT WAS AMAZING!!

Happily ever after

With their first anniversary in the books, I want to again wish Vin & Jess the most happy and amazing first year of marriage and many more to come!! Sometimes when you start a wedding journey with someone as their photographer, you also become friends! When I texted Jess I wished them a great day full of remembering the happy wedding memories and even said  I hoped they got to spend a great day together and maybe even see the latest Disney blockbuster Aladdin (that’s what I would do on my anniversary) and her response was that’s what they did to celebrate! Sometimes us Disney fans just know…and it’s magical!  🙂
