Some time last year I saw a post from another photographer Shalyn Nelson. I’ve followed her for a while (photographers, you should definitely check her out!) but I saw on her instagram stories that she wanted to blog more of her client work, and was going to do a series of “Married Mondays” posts until she caught up!

Well I found myself trying to juggle a little one and working from home. I was still photographing, and delivering a ton of #bkpcouples and #bkpfamilies their special moments via online gallery…but the cobwebs and dust bunnies moved into the blogging section of the business for sure! So as one of my 2020 goals I am now implementing a Married Mondays series to continue to share all my sessions and weddings because, in fact, I do have THE best clients!

So no it is not their first anniversary ( yes I’m past that too, sorry guys!) but Kaitlyn & Mike are one of my favorite weddings to date! When you are a photographer, walking into a room full of mostly strangers who already know each other and are family or close friends during bride prep IT IS INTIMIDATING. That was far from the situation at their wedding!! I had photographed Kaitlyn’s sister’s wedding just a few years before. I even knew she was getting about her proposal before she got engaged before she did when her sister sent me an email!! So to say I was excited for this wedding day was an understatement! 🙂

The day of her wedding had finally arrived, and I walked into a room full of her family and bridesmaids like it was a big welcome of reunion hugs!! They celebrated in beautiful church ceremony, spoke their vows, and sealed it with a kiss! Waiting outside just after the ceremony as their family and friends blew wedding bubbles was a fire engine from Mike’s station!! I remember being corrected by one of his fire fighting buddies who drove the truck that I didn’t know the correct name for the rig, so I apologize to anyone if I called it the wrong name again!! 🙂  It was the best backdrop for their bridal party photographs and some STUNNING VEIL SHOTS!!! Following the ceremony guests were greeted into cocktail hour at Meadow Wood Manor which had some AWESOME throw-back 1950s style stations of milkshakes, burgers, and glass bottled soda!

Shortly into the reception I was sick with what I later found out was food poisoning from the gas station tuna salad I had at lunch before getting to the wedding, and didn’t leave the house for a few days after this wedding! ( PSA: I don’t care if they look like a deli, it’s still a gas station!) Kaitlyn, being a nurse, was SO sweet to have taken the time from her own wedding to check on me! I was finally feeling better in enough time to watch their families belt out Paradise By the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf on the dance floor!! As this was one of the first weddings back from having a baby, I could not have been happier that it was for Kaitlyn, Mike, and their families!! This day was a DREAM and I am so privileged to have been the one to capture these sweet memories for you both!! Thank you for choosing me to be there, and I hope you enjoy looking back at a few of my favorites!!

In this crazy time of staying home to avoid exposure to the corona virus, I am so thankful that there are people like Kaitlyn and Mike put so much on the line, and show up to their jobs to help others! You guys are the best!
